Classes

Please note I am not offering classes in Edmonton anymore – Daniel and I have left Edmonton and are getting ready for our world trip! I’m leaving this information here until I rewrite the page for teaching on the road.
I offer French conversation classes in small groups (3 to 6 people) for people who want to speak French with confidence. I’ll help you pronounce clearly, say what you mean, understand, and be understood!
- Groups: You can join anytime, as long as there’s room in a group at your level. The levels range from intermediate to advanced (no beginners group for now, maybe later!).
- Schedule: Most groups are in the evenings, due to demand. Classes are 1.5 hour long, once a week.
- Syllabus: I design the class activities based on each group’s participants’ levels and needs, always with an emphasis on oral communication skills. Examples of activities are: word games, role plays, communicative activities, listening activities using songs, small presentations, improvement of pronunciation by reading out loud, and of course free conversation!

What level are you?
- Low intermediate: You have learned some French but putting sentences together is still difficult and slow. You need to review the basics and become comfortable using them. Understanding native French speakers is very difficult.
- Intermediate: You have learned French for some time, have a good idea of basic grammar & vocabulary, but have never really used them and need to practice. You can understand native speakers when they speak slowly.
- High intermediate: You’ve taken several French courses and have a pretty good grasp on basic French grammar & vocabulary. You can express yourself, but wish for more fluency. You can understand native speakers when they don’t speak too fast.
- Advanced: You’ve taken French immersion or lived in a French-speaking place or taken quite a few French courses. You have a firm grasp on basic French grammar & vocabulary and are pretty comfortable speaking in French, but need more confidence doing so. You can understand native French speakers in normal conversation.
